I've graduated from law school. Currently studying for the bar. Kind of forgot about this blog. For those that stumble across this blog when they are thinking about going to law school, make sure you love the law. Law school is hard. The legal market is tough. I have a job. I had to work my ass of for it. NONE of my classmates got the job or the salary they thought they were going to get when we started law school. If you love the law, finding a job that you love will happen. If you go to law school looking for a paycheck your life will be miserable. I saw way too many of my classmates that burned out because they were only there to get a paycheck.
If you do decide to go, go for it. Study hard. Meet as many attorneys as possible in whatever way you can. Bar functions. CLE classes (most states will let students go for free, check with you bar assoc). If you get a chance to get a decent job in law school, everytime single time you go to a function or court, INTRODUCE yourself to every single attorney you see. Be cordial, be confident. Ask them about THEIR practice area. Don't go on and on about YOU. Let them tell you stories about when they went to law school. This is called networking. It works. If you have something interesting about yourself, mention it to them, they will remember it.
Good luck.
